Meet Our Experienced Math Coach

All Things Math LLC is a coaching and resource center for students, parents, and teachers. We love to help students experience “Aha!” moments with math concepts and problem-solving.

Our center is dedicated to helping each student reach his or her greatest math potential in a caring, nonthreatening way. At All Things Math LLC, our system is success oriented, with instructional methods based on recommendations from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the new Common Core State Standards.

About Sara Cohen

Dr. Sara Cohen founded All Things Math LLC to share her love of mathematics with students who desire stronger math skills.

Dr. Cohen received her B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. in Mathematics from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. After her doctoral work, Dr. Cohen was a visiting scholar at Istituto di Elaborazione dell’Informazione in Pisa, Italy. She was subsequently an assistant professor in mathematics at Lake Forest College in Lake Forrest, Illinois. After receiving a research fellowship and National Science Foundation research grant in 1985, Dr. Cohen continued her research at the Center for Mathematical Sciences, University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she also taught in the Department of Mathematics.

In 1991, Dr. Cohen moved with her family to Denver, Colorado, where she joined the faculty in the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Metropolitan State College of Denver and consulted at the Optoelectronic Computing Systems Research Center at the University of Colorado – Boulder.

Dr. Cohen came to Charleston, West Virginia in 1998 and continued through 2002 as principal investigator and project director of a major National Science Foundation educational project at Metropolitan State College of Denver.

As an educator, Dr. Cohen has taught mathematics, computer science, and K-12 educational methods courses at the university level. She has also conducted professional development workshops for K-12 math and science educators and has been invited to lecture at various colleges in the United States.
